Floral Design is one of my true loves. It’s weird and may seem crazy but there’s something so soothing about collecting different textured foliage, cleaning the vessels and arranging the blooms that inspire my soul. Don't think you have to have a heap of disposable income to fill the house with blooms. Just grab your scissors and a big happy smile and take a stroll down your public street with polite manners in mind!
Tips
- Recycle old jam jars, pasta jars and teapots - they all make great vessels (vases) to hold your blooms.
- Ensure your vessels are clean. I normally wash mine with boiling water from the kettle and add in drop of bleach.
- Change the water in your vessels every 3 days.
- Ensure you always cut the stems of your blooms on a clean, sharp angle; take about 1cm off the stems when you get home from the store and when you change the water. This will ensure you cut out any air bubbles that may be in the stem resulting in the heads of your blooms going limp in a day or two.
- When using fresh foliage of flowers from your garden place in water immediate, let sit for several hours then re-cut stems (Take about 1cm of the bottom again on a clean, sharp angle).

In recent week’s I have come to the realization that I have got it back, well at least it feels like I have, what you may ask? My ability to drink. In my best Australian okka accent “I didn’t spend 5 bloody years up there, in the mines not to come out the other end of it a social drinker! Aint no pre-loading here mate, imma binge drinker. Fuck it I say. There’s nothing wrong with being an alcoholic, really is there? Narrr not at all. Fanno, pass us the funnel.” Ha ha all jokes a side I’m just stoked to be able to get sick-bitch-BIRFDAY-drunk with my friendships.
Which brings me to the next event that I will be socially frolicking around at with beverage in hand! Circo in its inaugural stance is the latest addition of fun filled festivities presented to Perth by Metric x ICSSC. Both these promoters teaming together is magical, so is the beautiful and respected line-up that the event will deliver to Ascot Racecourse on Saturday 17 August (this Saturday).

We all have personal goals and benchmarks we want to reach. One of mine has been to speak on a music industry panel. Today I did that, feeling like I have come along way in two years! See above the pic of students who sat on the information session this afternoon AND below the post from my personal FB page earlier today.

Not too many moons ago my friend Micah, who is a local DJ/Producer/Radio Host/Noodle Eater Extraordinaire, was offered an opportunity to play at a festival in the Ukraine called Kazantip, by our friend Lady Waks. He was wrapped with the venture that lay before him but unfortunately his financial situation was quite the opposite. This is a story you tend to here way to often working in a creative industry.
As you can see we are freaking stoked to have reached our target goal (f*ck yeah) but there are still some really rad rewards available. Including stickers, DJ lessons and a complete house party setup (the first one is being used for a wedding). Now you maybe wondering, why should you pledge if we have met our target goal. Well, we had some hidden costs. As Kazantip is its own country in the Ukraine they have extra expenses including additional VISA fees and transfers. And this maybe be stretching it but if we can sort out some extra funds we really want to hire a local Ukrainian to film Micah’s set at the festival to share with you.
Now you know what Crowd Funding is I dare you to get involved and assist in helping a creative type achieve their dreams. There are hundreds of amazing ideas on the Pozible website. To be part of someone’s journey and success leaves you with a beautiful warm fuzzy feeling inside, trust me!
Stay flippin' warm. AND dry.

After hearing Aluna Francis’s vocals on the track that was my Autumn, Disclosure’s White Noise I was hooked to her sound. Exploring through
AlunaGerorge tracks on Spotify I was quickly addicted to their sound. A beautiful production of Pop, Bass and Garage its no doubt that AlunaGeorge is one of my favorite artists for 2013. Not long
after purchasing their album Body Music I was also hypnotized by their beautifully captured video clips. See for yourself…

What happens when two totally creative girls bender all weekend? Now normally my answer wouldn’t be Boho Snap Happy Times but one sunny January day both Mandy Mateljak and myself were a lil too focused on “Future Evie and Mandy” times that “Present Evie and Mandy” had to pace'em selves to keep up. The end result of a night of drinking, darting and ofcoarse cuttin' shapes was a very hung-dawg/powerhouse photo shoot in the backyard of Brooklyn. Fun frienship times in the land of According To Evie!
Note: Friends that I usually bender with next time I suggest “snap happy times” after an all nighter please advise me against it.

Its not everyday you meet truly inspiring and talented people. I'm pretty damn lucky as of where I am in life I do meet heap of them! Below is the collaboration project between local singer /songwriter Sarah Pellicano, sound producer/upcoming DJ Informant aka Rory Garton Smith and videographer Zac Gordon owner of Tunnelvision Media. Together we came together last Thursday afternoon to cover Plump DJ's track Shifting Gears...
It was an absolutely an honour connecting these creative souls to produce this Plump DJ's cover of Shifting Gears.
It was a few weeks ago now that Bruna, Tash and myself headed down the old Ludlow Heather Green to represent and present Chics in Music Business at Nannup Music Festival. A weekend of boozing, bands, boy talk and not on my behalf but certainly on their’s baby talk! Oh yeah and we came up with some exciting new direction for Chics in Music Business.
We camped for two nights on the side banks of the beautiful Blackwood River. We put up our own tent (totes girl power – Nigel Bird, you can keep your mouth shut buddy! )and we munched on organic and not so organic delights. We listened to so much inspiring and invigorating music. A massive hug and Thank you to Phedra and all the volley’s involved in making Nannup Music Festival. Now one of my favourite events of the year.
Below are 3 links to some new music I discovered and feel like its in your best interest for you to listen.
Ngaiire - Dirty Hercules
Mama Kin – Rescue
Anton Franc - Letting Go

So, I have been attempting to write this for days. I've drafted it in my head, on paper, on ze ipad, on the lappy but the sentences and paragraphs are just way too busy. Too emotional for the message I need to deliver. So here's me trying to simplify.
You can't choose your family but you can choose your friends that become your family. My Ambar Family is one of the most beautiful, unique yet inspiring tribes I have ever studied or witnessed. And I am truly honoured to be apart of it. We are a congregation that has no leader but exist where the chicks where kicks, the beats are fresh and the bass is heavy.
They say home is where your heart is. Any given weekend you'll find me along with hundreds of others at HOME with our FAMILY at Ambar Nightclub.
The building where Ambar currently lives is being redeveloped and we have to move. Please take a second to watch this lil video and fill out the simple 6 questions to keep our legend alive.

There is not only a tremendous amount of creative and gifted musicians that come out of Perth but the veins of our tree of talent spread all over the state. From Kununurra to Mt Barker, York to Nannup it seems that something in the water has diluted and magically inspired many individuals. Twirling around the deeper vines of our state you will find a brotherhood of 4 charming men, collectively they come together at Dallas Royal.
I first encountered the groups
presence at Groovin the Moo Bunbury 2012 then secondly later at Parklife,
lately I have seen their name and knocked into them more and more often. Now,
most of you know I'm not a massive "Australian Rock" (unless there is
a kick-arse front women aka Adalita or Katy Steele) fan but there's lads
residing from Dunsborough go alright, and their party ethic is second to none.
Loose c*nts. Their music is complemented by their high energy, live show.
Evidence of why Dallas Royal are the next thing to come out of our South West.
Here's a link to their unearthed page, keep up-to-date with their gigs here on there FB page. If u get the opportunity to
catch them live be prepared to get sweaty and fu*ked up. xXx

It’s a summer, social phenomenon that has swept over many of the 20-30 hooligans that live and like to party in Perth. Really, when you think about it was the guidance from our parents that have brought us to the jetty of wet and wild, fun times. How so you may ask? Well the typical West Australian kid started swimming lessons in Year 1. The majority of childhood birthday parties were based around the family or public pool. And as we entered our teen years the beach hosted many drunken occasions and with the river nursing our hangovers. The move to bangin' boat parties is only a natural progression that I'm totes blaming the olds for. Dang, I aint taking responsibility for my sunburn, hangover or luck of funds for a path that they paved for me!
This Sunday we gather, once again, as tiny little ducklings on the banks on the river to celebrate. To celebrate and create “Apple Tree moments”. You know those times when you were a kid (or sitting on Bulwer Street roof) you know with your lil' mateys and you feel like the king on the world. With your friends by your side – whether it be the top of that apple tree or sitting on that god damn red roof! Analogy stolen from the lovely Mama Kin, keep an ear out for the track ‘Apple Tree’ from her forth-coming album The Magician Daughter! Song explains it all.
Anyway, the Ghlyd to Summer Cocktail Party Boat departs this Sunday morning at 10am from Barrack Street Jetty and you’re totally invited! Ticket Price is $130 which includes all ya drinks, BBQ lunch, salads and snacks. DJ’s on the decks (Evie made a pun) are Philly Blunt, Tha Beatslappaz, Beatsmack, Get More, Genga, Miss Demeanour (my girl) and Grantley Hyde.
Let’s get fu*king rowdy! For more information or to purchase tickets here’s the link: GHYDE TO SUMMER COCKTAIL BOAT PARTY

There are five radical reasons I'm totes excited for Laneway. Imma gonna share em with you!
1. I'll be hittin up the festival with Creed Birch and his bestie Richie. They are so good at dancing. And smoking cigarettes, they are really great at both those things.
We are going to have a fly time.

[Sweater Weather - The Neighbour Hood]
3.I will get to hear ‘Sweater Weather’
by The Neighbourhood LIVE!
[This is Matt]
4. At the festival I will be meeting up with my friend Matt McMullen. He’s from Fremantle.
Drives a Big car and works at Drum Magazine.
