Ever year the Perth International Arts festivals host a unique and mature array of artists. This year is no different, their contemporary line-up deliveries a wide range of genres. But most importantly its includes some delectable hip hop and electronic acts.

One of the shows that both my mate Benny P (local DJ, Ramen lover and all around NICE guy) and I are most looking forward to is DJ Shadow! Here are Benny's 5 Favourite DJ Shadow tracks, so you too can get excited!

Tale of a Tall Fellow is RAD!

On Friday the 24 February I’m putting on a gig This Is Rad a.k.a Ranga Appreciation Day. With a Stella local line-up of red headed DJ’s, freckle face painting, orange hair spraying with all proceeds goings to the Cancer Council of WA. Local designer Di Nguyen has kindly donated a shirt for the winner of the BEST Ginger Mo, Fro or Beard Comp! I asked her a few quick questions about her label (which I adore)! 

Label: Tale of a Tall Fellow 
It all came about when… I saw a lack of variation in menswear in Perth. All the shirts were very similar and I wanted to create something a little different and to give the guys of Perth another option in what they could wear. 
My biggest inspiration is… history and mainly British fashion and designers such as visit and Bobby Abley.

Ninja.

I love ninja's. Here are 3 reasons why...

A few weeks ago I found myself taking a some time out of the hectic Breakfest preparations that was December to have a “coffee break” at the Brisbane Hotel. Whilst sipping on a Pims Punch (they gave us a full jug for free because we are way groovy) Kay Be, Genga, Odie and I found ourselves reminiscing about the year that was 2013. I posed the questions to group “What their most memorable gig of the year was?” Listen Out, Next Hype, Breakfest,  Future Music After Party (of years past – sometimes all the years just role into one hey Genga) and Insane Clown Posie where just some of the events that became talking points. But I, I had nothing. I think i would have spent over 100 hours in venue's last year but could not recall any highlights. It became apparent at this point that my passion had become job. Now, I’m not complaining I’m just acknowledging that I’m not doing what makes me happy in my out-of-office hours.

I love discovering, listening, following and witnessing live music. So one of my goals for 2014 is to attend two live gigs a month. So far for February I’m locking in the Big Day Out wish Ashleigh and The National with Rob Odeasie.

This Is R.A.D

On Friday the 24 Jan (AUSTRALIA DAY LONG WEEKEND) at Flyrite we'll be putting on a gig that'll acknowledge the existance of the paler members of the community. Everyone has a ginger in the family, so to celebrate our fiery friends we’re showcasing them in a night that’s all about RED (and bangers), presented in conjunction with our friends at Monteith’s Brewing and their perfection in a bottle, Ginger Beer.

Fresh gingers producing clean, crisp and delicious sounds – crystal filtered and highly carbonated – perfect for that moment when your week stops and your Australia Day Long Weekend begins.

We’ll have plenty of prizes (Best Hair/Best Mo/Best Dressed), get freckled with our face painters, red hair spray, banging BBQ, giveaways thanks to Tale of a Tall Fellow. Plus – you’ll get a Ginger Nut on entry.
