#FanGirl featuring Chris Lorenzo

What’s that sound? I like that sound.. It’s the unmistakable groove of  Birmingham bassline bad man Chris Lorenzo! Lorenzo (or Loz, as he’s affectionately known to his mates) has been evolving THAT jackin’ bass-house sound over the course of 2 decades and a plethora of highly successful releases and collaborations with signings to labels regarded amongstthe DJ elite and the discerning listener alike including (but not limited to) Food Music (brought to you by Shadow Child & Kry Wolf)& Dirty Bird Records (brought to you by the mighty Claude Von Stroke)  but it’s now 2017.. and what better way to see in the year of the bloody Rooster than to drop a full length feature LP!? The delivery of which has proven to be an exceptional serving of bass house goodness! I really like Bass House; a slammin 4/4 beat backed up with a blistering groove bassline.. It’s a combination that is hard to beat.. Some would say Lorenzo is responsible for shaping and pioneering the genre that we all know today as bass house (but that’s the subject for another article in itself) Let’s get back to the release at hand though, ‘Destroy The Image’ as it’s been aptly titled, and Destroy it does.. From creamin' the panties of the coolest crop in Croatia to giving the raving rinsers of Perth something to get low to, ‘Destroy The Image’ is setting the bar for delivery of full length feature records, which have always been a hard feat to conquer for electronic artists. Rather than the status quo of single releases in this digital world we live in. Great Album achievement's (especially ones with little to no fillers) aren't celebrated enough these days.

M - I'm Lovin' It

Sometimes I have these mini panic attacks. Anxious thoughts. If your not a big music lover or listener it might sound pathetic. Or Petty. But sometimes I find myself freakin' the f*ck out. With a speeding brain and sweaty hands. Thinking to myself "how the hell am I going to listen to all this epic music being produced. And how much am I missing out on?"

I also wondered if others shared the same thoughts.

See, I've been listing to ALOT of new music the last 4 days. But yesterday I had an immense feeling of disappointment when discovery Mick Jenkins. After first hearing his collaborations with BADBADNOTGOOD (#1 fan girl right here) I headed to Mike's Facebook fan page to find it already liked by a dozen of my mates. I was suddenly saddened. I was late to the boat. Had I been sleeping under a rock? More factually, I'd been hidden in-between a heap of HUGE rocks in the valleys of British Columbia.

Luckily I'm going to give you the opportunity to avoid this feeling. That's why I've shared his track 'Jazz' with hopes you'll discover some of his other lyrically soothing tracks much like I did. As you scroll down you'll also find a few other artist's that I've been listening to. All starting with the letter M...

Moving to Nelson has introduced me to a whole new music community. Really digging this Footwerk curation of melodies from local legend Mooves.

And last but not least. Actually, my favourite in this list is my My Nu Leng. OMG, My Nu Leng. This mix is superb. Track selection on point. Got me counting down the days until I'm reunited with my Shambhala Sister Girls (Ari front and center please)!With that in mind, I'm crossing my fingers for a set this year back at the farm!

North Spice Success

The North Spice Pozible crowdfunding campaign has officially come to an end and we're pleased to announce we made the $10,000 target! I'm incredibly grateful to Gina North fro bringing me on for this start-up and to our 124 wonderful supporters, who made over 150 pledges to help us reach our goal.

We’re in the process of posting the Golden Turmeric Blends and gift packs. We have already sent out approximately 70% of the orders, and are currently mixing up more product to satisfy the high demand (exciting!). So, if you haven't received your order yet, don’t fret, your golden package of goodness will be sent as soon as possible.

To the generous souls that purchased the Golden Tea Ceremonies, we’ll be in touch this week to organise your event, which will likely be held in April 2017. To those that pledged for a recipe booklet, we will delivery via e-mail by end of January 2017.

Kootenay Music Awards 2017

On behalf of the Kootenay Co-Op Radio I'm honored and excited to be coordinating the fifth Kootenay Music Awards. And they’re set to return bigger (and louder) than ever! A premier celebration of local, original music which captures the diversity, creativity and craft of musical talents found in and around the Kootenay Mountain Region. From Fernie, Rossland to Revelstoke and all the fruitful communities in between, the return of the awards are set to be for music lovers and industry alike.

The award categories are:

• Best Folk/Roots/Country Act

I'll never get tired of the 3am Facebook message from Aimee in the desert "Oi mate, I'm having a party & the tunes are sh*t, what's the name of that mix" or the international text from buddy old pal Azza "Whatareya listening to, I need something to smash out in the gym".
